The News
I have seen some people fretting over the $HIVE price. It was in a similar place in December, but went up again. It looks like most of the market went red this week, so we should not be surprised if we suffer too. I am sure some people will be buying again. You can always be earning with $HIVE and many will play the long game.
I have not seen too much about Hive projects that I can report on this week. If I missed something important then please let me know, or do your own news post. I just do these for fun (and habit). If anyone thinks they have value then that is a bonus.
I really do not chase after rewards on Hive. I saw @fullcoverbetting write about possible strategies to get a whale vote. It can be about where, when and how much you post, but I just do what I feel like. I very rarely get any votes over a couple of dollars, but that is okay. I do not need to rely on Hive earnings, but others might. We need the price to go up to make that more viable, but that depends on getting more people active here and investing.
There is a new 'toy' that replicates the old Hot or Not idea that got Mark Zuckerberg started. This one lets you pick between pairs of Hivers. You may have to click through a few to find anyone you know and you get five votes each day. There are no rewards, but this is an example of using the Hive blockchain to run a site.
Friday Follows
- @meno is working on scaling @threespeak. That is tricky with any online service, but video is hard due to the quantity of data.
- @louis88 keeps an eye out for security issues around Hive. He noticed that some old 3speak posts were using a site that they no longer control. He created a tool to update your posts. There is always a risk that such a link could be exploited by bad actors.
- @thetroublenotes will be touring the world again with their brand of prog folk. Look out for them in your area and maybe go say hello.
- I have known @dickturpin for years. He is very into open source and more active on Mastodon than here, but he comes up with some interesting posts. He was using ChatGPT to advise on witnesses to vote for. The comments it produced seem quite good so these tools do know a bit about our blockchain. I think it is important to use your witness votes. You should support those who you think do good for the platform. If you are not sure then you can follow the votes of someone you trust.
The Dog House
I am sure a lot of you know about a certain user (who I will not mention) who feels unfairly treated. I think that their strategy of leaving masses of comment is not productive as that will be seen as spam by most people. I had about a hundred such comments on my post last week, but I will still not retaliate as that is just not effective in his case. I would hope that others could leave him alone so that I get less of such hassle. In such cases someone has to stop or it never ends and feuds are not healthy.
I would hope that people can see that I just try to do good on Hive and avoid conflict. I did my share of downvoting when I thought it was necessary to deal with abuse, but I stopped that some time ago for various reasons. I am well aware that everything we do here is public, so anyone can see what I have written and done. I do not want pity or for anyone to act on my behalf. I am here to be social and discuss things that interest me. I want others to have the same opportunities.
Regardless of what some might say I am not pretending to be anyone else. I run the @tenkminnows and @proofofbrian accounts apart from this main one. What anyone else does is entirely up to them.
The End
We are almost through the first month of 2026 already. I will be doing my regular #BritList in a week or so and I will keep looking out for people to add. I would hope to see people doing lists for other countries too. I have worked on some, but I do not have time to keep them updated. I will help out if I can.
Enjoy your weekend and Hive five!
