maybe we can talk about the haircut rule as it seems to be that time!
I noticed that posts as of a few hours ago had started paying out in hive and hp compared to hbd and hp.
This means that it's that time of the season again!
Although it seems to have caught many by surprise as most expected it to occur as we get closer to 4 cent worth of hive.
Looking at websites by @dalz: hbdstats.com or @ausbitbank: hive.ausbit.dev/hbd
you'd think we weren't that close yet but this may be due to some recent changes where the calculation of the total supply of hive and hbd don't count the supply in the DHF.
Meaning, the change that lowered inflation back to the amounts it should've been after the hardfork (first witness rewards, and shortly after the author and curator rewards as well), may be the reason we hit the haircut threshold earlier.
Usually however it would happen gradually. I.e. you would still get partial hbd rewards, partial hive and then HP in your author rewards as the price of hive was going lower. Maybe this was also a change that was made at some point I may have missed so you'll have to excuse me there and maybe someone in the comments knows better.
Anyway, thought I'd make a short post tonight talking about this as a few people in dms brought it up.
One of the questions was:
Will this cause hive to drop faster?
It's hard to say but I kind of doubt it since there's already no exchanges that accept hbd outside of one with very limited customers (upbit). Meaning most who sell already convert their hbd into hive first so it's not like the haircut rule is changing much there.
As for if some may panic more or less that's up to anyone's guess either as a sell off or buying more.
Another question was if it's better to do 100% power up posts now, for that I also don't think it matters much, but not sure, feel free to correct me.
