Every system has its own way of working, and the same thing applies to this Hive Blockchain. When I joined, I had only a little idea to how things worked here. That lack of proper understanding made me inconsistent because I would write, apply the few things I had learned or was told, yet see no reasonable earnings. That discouraged me a lot and made me active one week and completely absent the next.
Is it only engagement that brings earnings?
I usually advise everyone I introduce to this platform to be consistent in engaging with people while also writing original articles. Engagement is good, but there is also the place of connection, which sometimes comes through engagement. Most times, this connection works through the channel or community one joins.
Am I talking trash?
There are newbies who find it easier to earn through their onboarder or the channel they joined, especially when they come in through a whale, or when the onboarder has a strong link to a whale within that community. Some communities are heavily supported by big whales. A good example is how OCD supports some communities that focus on nurturing newbies. If a newbie enters Hive through the admin(s) of such a community, good support is almost guaranteed until the newbie gains stability. Should I mention some of these communities? Oh, they are not hidden.
That said, engagement still plays a huge role for a newbie. Although Hive operates on voting for original articles, there are also people who vote randomly or based on personal choice. To meet these people, a newbie has to work their way up by reading and commenting on other people’s articles. This is not optional at all for anyone who wants to grow and get noticed. A newbie must be consistent and steady without relenting. When I found out about this, I became very serious with posting and engaging with others. Although I'm lazy at engagement, it paved way for me.
Although I did not start earning easily in my first few weeks, when I discovered that I could still earn little by little while improving and becoming a more serious member of Hive, I became encouraged. I started writing based on community contests, and that helped me a lot. There are many communities that run weekly and monthly contests, and a newbie should take advantage of them depending on their niche. Writing through contests also helps greatly in dealing with writer’s block.
Thanks for reading.
