Mono Monday at the port
Good Morning today I am starting the week as usual with a few MOno images, and the focus for this week is from walks around the port here in New Bedford, and mostly on commercial fishing boats
The Port of New Bedford serves as the home port for more than 500 commercial fishing vessels, particularly known for its scallop fleet. On a daily basis, roughly 300 to 400 commercial fishing boats are active in the port, with up to 150 additional vessels utilizing the port from across the U.S. Atlantic coast. Commercial fishermen in New Bedford, MA primarily catch sea scallops, ocean quahog, Atlantic surf clam, haddock, American lobster, Northern shortfin squid, and monkfish, according to multiple sources. While they don't catch the most popular seafood in the US, like shrimp, their landings of scallops, monkfish, lobster, cod, and oysters are significant. New Bedford is the #1 fishing port in the US by fish landings value, with sea scallops being a major contributor
and after saying all that my first shot if only of a few of the commercial boats, and more of police and fire boats who dock in this portion of the port, and of course the little boat in the foreground that does tours along the coast.

But this next shot has a few of the commercial fishing boats.
Most times I visit the port in the early morning and although I see fisherman working either getting the boats ready to head out or unloading I seldom ever talk to them, in part due to me bing quite shy, and secondly because there busy and I do not want to bother them
but after seeing some shots from a fellow photographer here in NEw Bedford who took some shots on one of the commercial fishing boats, I will try to puch myself this year when I start getting out and about again, and try to talk to some of the fishermen, and perhaps get onto one of the boats for a fw shots sometime.
OF course that would be better when there is more light so maybe I would need to bvisit the port during the day.
