Hello to all members of this community, photography and art lovers! Once again, I'm here to share the photos I took during one of my visits to the National Art Gallery of Caracas (Venezuela). Sometimes I find out about exhibitions through social media, but other times, like this one, I stumble upon it by chance while visiting other works.

Footprints of Survival is a collection of paintings by Ernesto León, an artist whose work reflects the communication between the senses, the rational, and the spiritual. When I arrived at the gallery, I was surprised, as the first thing I saw was a series of footprints on pieces of fabric, and I'm sure many of the visitors interpreted it that way. I sometimes observe how others react to the exhibited works, but in this case, the space was empty.

That relaxed me. I like going to exhibitions on days when there are few people, or even no one at all, haha. I've been to newly opened exhibitions, and yes, it's exciting to see people and their reactions to the exhibits and to have the opportunity to listen to talks... but I absolutely need to go back to those same exhibitions when there's no one else there, because in complete solitude, I can quiet my thoughts and, through contemplation, find my own communion with the artist.

Once I began to admire each painting and read its caption, I started to understand, through the marks, what the artist wished to express. The marks, I believe, represent that human need to connect beyond the visible and the path one travels to get to know others, as well as that which surrounds them.

One of the details I loved about this exhibition was the background music, a relaxing sound that came from a video playing on a loop, where we could see someone walking forwards and then in reverse, pulling a cart or leaving footprints on the sand.

I stood there for a while and thought about it. We don't realize how far we've come until we can't take another step, whether because we're exhausted or a greater force compels us to stop. And that's when we can see the footprints we left behind. Ernesto reflects, in an interesting way, the value of those steps, the footprints that reflect the importance of our actions and the purpose of each individual in the universe they inhabit.

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad, amantes de la fotografía y del arte! Una vez más, vengo a mostrarles las fotografías que tomé durante una de mis visitas a la Galería de Arte Nacional de Caracas (Venezuela). Hay ocasiones en las que suelo informarme a través de las redes sociales de las exposiciones, aunque hay casos como éste, en donde me encuentro con la misma de casualidad al estar visitando otras obras.

Huellas de la Supervivencia, se trata de una recopilación de pinturas de Ernesto León, un artista que refleja en su obra la comunicación existente entre los sentidos, lo racional y lo espiritual. Una vez que llegué a la sala, me sorprendí, pues lo primero que vi fueron una serie de pisadas sobre trozos de tela y estoy segura de que muchos de los asistentes así lo interpretaron. A veces, suelo observar cómo reaccionan los demás ante las obras expuestas, pero en éste caso, el espacio estaba vacío.

Eso me relajó, me gusta asistir a las exposiciones en los días en donde hay pocas personas o de plano, no hay nadie jaja He asistido a exposiciones recién inauguradas y si, es emocionante ver a las personas y sus reacciones ante lo expuesto y tener la oportunidad de escuchar charlas... pero necesito sí o sí, volver a esas mismas exposiciones cuando no hay más nadie, pues en la completa soledad, es que puedo mantener mis pensamientos acallados y dónde a través de la contemplación, hallar mi propia comunión con el artista.

Una vez que comencé a admirar cada pintura y leer su enunciado, iba comprendiendo a través de las marcas, lo que deseaba expresar el artista. Las huellas, creo que representan esa necesidad del ser humano de conectarse más allá de lo visible y el camino que se recorre para poder conocer a los demás, así como aquello que lo rodea.

Uno de los detalles que amé de esta exposición, fue que se escuchaba de fondo un sonido, una música relajante que provenía de un video que se reproducía en bucle, en donde podíamos ver a alguien caminando hacia adelante y luego en sentido inverso, arrastrando un carrito o dejando las huellas sobre la arena.

Me quedé un rato de pie y pensé en ello, no nos damos cuenta de todo el camino que hemos transitado hasta que ya no podemos dar un paso más, ya sea porque nos quedamos sin energía o una fuerza mayor, nos obligó a detenernos.. y es ahí cuando podemos ver las huellas que dejaron nuestros pasos. Ernesto refleja de una forma interesante el valor de esos pasos, la huella que refleja la importancia de las acciones y el sentido de cada individuo en el universo en el que habita.
