I have been keeping the habit of snapping and saving photos, photos of things and moments. When I saw the #KISS prompt, I quickly walked into my gallery to look for some relatable photos, and when I did, I could not stop imagining how life used to be until the middle of last year and how relieved I have been lately.
The photos above show how my room used to be jam-packed with clothes and all sorts of items because I was actually using the living space as my store-office, where I kept all the clothes I collected from clients (I am into laundry).
The thing is, I don't work there, I only keep clothes there.
Although it did not get zigzag or rough when arranged, the jam-packed nature of the room and the amount of space the heap of clothes occupied were a whole lot. Also, some of my friends who know that I live in that same space usually come around to change clothes at night, and it used to be very tiring to “fish” out clothes at night. It was also somehow mocking to see that I lived in a place like that.
But the truth is, I was not really moved by the mockery because I was saving a lot and living simply. Still, I would not lie that I did not feel somehow, especially in cases where people who had never been to my house visited for the first time.
In the middle of last year, I got a shop in the same block, which was very convenient since it was within the same environment. I moved all the clothes to the shop, and for once, my room became very spacious. It felt as if I had been keeping the clothes of everyone in my city in my room because it took me time to finally move everything out, though on a gradual basis, so that I would not mix or misplace any clothes.
Ever since then, there has been this sense of free living in a spacious room. I no longer feel the 'craziness' of meeting a very jam-packed room each time I close for the day, nor do I dodge the idea of people visiting me, especially those who have never been to my place before. I no longer go through the stress of fishing out needed clothes from a heap like I used to. It felt like I had been living in a medium-sized cubicle all along. Lol.
Thanks for reading.
