Hola amigos || Hello friends
Estamos en otro TTT el cual definitivamente se ha vuelto una actividad en esta zona musical muy activa y de mi parte siempre he compartido muchísimas experiencias personales cuando vengo hablarles en un TTT. Y mientras voy contando mi historia, vamos viajando juntos a años donde la música definió una década, una época, un estilo de vida. Años en la que cohabitaban contundentes guitarras y melodías inolvidables donde nacieron himnos que siguen sonando con mucha vitalidad.
We are at another TTT, which has definitely become a very active musical event in this area, and I have always shared many personal experiences when I come to speak to you at a TTT. And as I tell my story, we travel together to years when music defined a decade, an era, a lifestyle. Years in which powerful guitars and unforgettable melodies coexisted, giving birth to anthems that continue to resonate with great vitality.
Hoy nos dirigimos a 1998 año donde nacieron éxitos que acompañaron a toda una generación y no fue solo un año que colecciona grandes éxitos del rock si no que fue un año que sin duda alguna mostró la riqueza de la música popular. Esa capacidad de combinar riffs gloriosos y letras emotivas con producciones tan increíbles que todavía hoy suenan tan frescas como el primer día de grabación. Incluso no solo con el rock, porque también existía en dicho año Baladas que también hoy resuenen como su primer día. Son clásicos con el que definitivamente compartimos un pedacito de nuestra vida. Y digo esto porque fui criado por una madre soltara y mi mamá era más de escuchar un José José, Ana Gabriel, José Luis perales y toda esa plantilla de artistas tan increíbles en su género musical.
Today we go back to 1998, a year that gave birth to hits that accompanied an entire generation. It wasn't just a year that collected great rock hits, but also a year that undoubtedly showcased the richness of popular music. That ability to combine glorious riffs and emotional lyrics with productions so incredible that they still sound as fresh today as they did on the first day of recording. And it wasn't just rock, because that year also saw ballads that still resonate today as they did on their first day. They are classics with which we definitely share a little piece of our lives. I say this because I was raised by a single mother, and my mom was more into listening to José José, Ana Gabriel, José Luis Perales, and all those incredible artists in their musical genre.
Artista que por cierto también deberían ser tomados en cuenta por mí para un futuro TTT ya que también soy admirador de muchísimos de esos artistas como por ejemplo del maestro Armando Manzanero. No es de quien hoy les vengo hablar pero les aseguro que para el próximo les compartiré algunas de mis canciones favoritas. Quiero hablarles de esos éxitos que fueron parte de mi adolescencia y de seguro de la suya. Canciones como “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” de Aerosmith. Video musical que por cierto ganó popularidad adicional gracias a la conexión con la película ¨Armageddon¨ y su emotiva interpretación. Aquellos años donde los videos tenían hasta más producción que la misma canción. Recordemos empezando con este gran clásico.
Artists who, incidentally, should also be taken into account by me for a future TTT, as I am also a fan of many of these artists, such as the maestro Armando Manzanero. He is not the one I am here to talk to you about today, but I assure you that next time I will share some of my favorite songs with you. I want to talk to you about those hits that were part of my adolescence and surely yours as well. Songs like “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. A music video that, incidentally, gained additional popularity thanks to its connection to the movie Armageddon and its emotional performance. Those were the years when videos had even more production value than the songs themselves. Let's start by remembering this great classic.
Y sin perder la energía rockera y así subir un poco más el nivel, recordemos “Fly Away” de Lenny Kravitz, un himno de libertad y rock con actitud logrando ser un gran éxito comercial y convirtiéndose en uno de los himnos de Kravitz. Qué por cierto, otro videoclip bastante creativo donde se refuerza la idea de libertad y exploración. Y quizás me dirán ¡Pero Fly Away Edwards! Y en mi humilde opinión el riff de guitarra es sencillo pero pegajoso, y la producción tiene una sensación de apertura y movimiento constante que sin duda te mantiene con un espíritu vibrante ja ja ja… Escuchemos y observemos la gran producción del videoclip.
And without losing the rock energy and raising the bar a little higher, let's remember “Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz, an anthem of freedom and rock with attitude that became a huge commercial success and one of Kravitz's signature songs. Which, by the way, is another pretty creative music video that reinforces the idea of freedom and exploration. And maybe you'll say, “But Fly Away, Edwards!” And in my humble opinion, the guitar riff is simple but catchy, and the production has a feeling of openness and constant movement that definitely keeps you in a vibrant mood, ha ha ha... Let's listen and watch the great production of the music video.
Y para cerrar, creo que dejaré lo mejor. Lo más impactante, ese himno que al escucharlo nos recuerda de inmediatamente nuestros 16 años. Amigos, Pretty Fly de The Offspring. Una canción que llegó a hacer un gran internacional y creo que podría decir sin miedo que una de las canciones más conocidas de la banda. El coro es super pegajoso y aunque repetitivo “Give it to me baby, uh huh, uh huh” se convirtió en una frase que todo joven repetia por las aceras de todas las ciudades. Y no nos olvidemos del videoclip que tuvo un gran impacto y se convirtió en parte de la identidad visual de la misma canción. Recordemos y porque no, subamos un poco el volumen. Una decisión difícil porque también está ¨Why Don't You Get A Job? ¨
And to finish, I think I'll leave the best for last. The most impactful, that anthem that immediately reminds us of our 16-year-old selves when we hear it. Friends, Pretty Fly by The Offspring. A song that became a huge international hit and I think I can safely say one of the band's best-known songs. The chorus is super catchy, and although repetitive, “Give it to me baby, uh huh, uh huh” became a phrase that every young person repeated on the sidewalks of every city. And let's not forget the music video, which had a huge impact and became part of the visual identity of the song itself. Let's remember it and, why not, turn up the volume a little. A difficult decision because there's also “Why Don't You Get A Job?”
