Ciao tutti!
I am seriously considering to patent my latest 'invention': the charging potato.
My phone wasn't working for 4 days in a row. It simply didn't want to charget at all, no matter what I tried.
It was pretty frustrating and seemed to drain my energy too.
As this had happened several times before and @clareartista already gave up on this device, late 2024 ( I am using her old phone, since then ), I was seriously considering to get a new model.
Not wanting to be surveilled and not really having the funds, at the moment, to invest in a decent privacy phone, made me delay this decision though.
And then...
I had a light bulb moment...
💡
About a year ago, I had plugged my old phone's charging cable into a raw potato. And after a while, it started working again.
My phone gave the empty battery/loading battery sign, where as, before, the screen had been entirely blank and I was about to throw it out ( the window ).
As we usually have potatoes in stock ( Clare loves 'tatties', as they call them in Scotland ), I decided to give potato charging a chance, once again.
And, not entirely to my surprise, a low battery/ charging singal showed up on my phone, soon after.
And then, when I plugged it into my powerbank ( the same machine that hadn't managed to charge my phone for 4 days in a row ), it charged faster than ever before. It's now two days later and the charging is still going strong. 💪
You gotta love tatties! They are so versatile! You can mash them, steam them, cook them, add them to pasta or soup, eat them with meat, fish and poultry, turn them into fries and even charge phones with them ;<)
And here's the proof of me doing the same thing, over a year ago ( the wild version of me, captured by Clare ):

Back then, I seemingly used both the cable and the plug.
This time around, the day before yesterday, I just plugged the micro-usb cable straight into the potato. Unplugged.
All in all, it seemed like my phone just needed some (🥔) juice.
Don't try this at home. Or, if you're really desperate and nothing else seems to help, do try it. It might save you the bother and funds of buying a new charger/battery or phone or at least delays the process for a while.
