Para nadie es un secreto la influencia que tiene en el fútbol de Arabía Saudí la figura del atacante portugués Cristiano Ronaldo, desde que este aterrizó en el medio oriente, tras su polémica salida del Manchester United.
La llegada de Cristiano Ronaldo al elenco del Al-Nassr ha sido bajo el rol de líder, y su presencia en el equipo ha permitido, bajo su influencia, la llegada de jugadores de renombre a su club y al resto de equipos pertenecientes a la liga árabe.
Sin embargo, para la presente temporada, la situación del Al-Nassr no es la ideal, a pesar de luchar codo a codo con el Al-Hilal por el título. Una mejor situación que en los años anteriores, y es que Cristiano Ronaldo se ha negado a jugar con el equipo a modo de protesta por la falta de fichajes en el mercado invernal.
La 'rebelión' del jugador portugués contra el Fondo de Inversión Pública de Arabia Saudita,(PIF), es porque este ente es el encargado de financiar los fichajes de los principales equipos de la liga, entre ellos, el conjunto del Al-Nassr.
La falta de refuerzos que solicitó el entrenador Jorge Jesús para la segunda parte de la temporada, ha provocado el malestar de un Cristiano Ronaldo que cumplió su promesa al no jugar ante Al-Riyahd este lunes 02 de febrero, pero que su presencia ante Al-Ittihad (próximo viernes 06 de febrero) está en entredicho.
