$1 Image Source Weeks later, as life became more complicated, something shifted within Emmy. He took an honest look at himself and his family and said to himself, “My school fees are unaffordable, so why force myself to continue school?” The next morning, Emmy returned to the man who sold phone accessories and offered to work for him. The man agreed and informed Emmy that his salary would be twenty thousand naira ($14) per month. Emmy accepted and began working. Aware of his background and situation, Emmy planned to work for the man for one year and save at least two hundred thousand naira. He was focused and determined. He worked smartly, and customers loved the way he engaged with them. One unique thing about Emmy was that he never compromised his moral values, regardless of his struggles. One day at the shop, a customer came to buy a phone worth about $720. That day, opportunity found Emmy. The man turned out to be a successful investor who was looking for a young, promising boy to invest in. After purchasing the phone, the man casually asked Emmy, “It is obvious that this business is not yours, but what would you have done if it were?” The man was shocked by Emmy’s answer, especially considering his age. He left and returned the next day, deciding to give Emmy a chance. “How much do you think it would cost to open a shop like this?” he asked. Just as Emmy was about to respond, the man said, "I will give you two million naira for this business. Within six months, I will assess your progress and decide what to do next. Note that you don't have a dime in this money" Because the man was too direct and imposing, Emmy declined the offer. The next day, the man went behind Emmy’s back and blackmailed him to the shop owner. Believing the man, the vendor fired Emmy without any explanation. Emmy was devastated. In the middle of his weakness, the man appeared again. This time, Emmy felt he had no choice but to accept the offer, as he did not know the man was the one who had blackmailed him. He collected the money and went home. That night, he stayed awake thinking deeply about how to run the business. He wanted to outsmart the system. Suddenly, a perfect idea came to him.

Six months working for a vendor, how does the system works

“If all I do is sell phones to customers, that is what every other vendor does,” he said to himself. “Assurance is the key to a successful business.” He decided to divide the shop into two sections—one for phone sales and the other for phone repairs. Customers who bought phones from his shop would enjoy free phone repairs whenever their phones developed faults. Confident in his idea, Emmy rented a shop, furnished it, and purchased all the necessary items. Once the shop was ready, the news spread quickly that customers who bought phones there would receive free phone repairs upon registration. Although Emmy could not repair phones himself, he hired a well-trained phone engineer and paid him a monthly salary. Within one month, 80 percent of the people in the town had purchased their phones from Emmy, and he maintained excellent customer relationships. Whenever their phones developed faults, they brought them in for free repairs, with no charge for workmanship. In seven months, Emmy became a wealthy 17-year-old boy with the mindset of a 40-year-old man. When the investor arrived for assessment, he smiled and said, “I am not surprised. I knew the outcome from the beginning. Well done, Emmy.”

Who on earth is this man?

The man finally found fulfillment, as his true desire was to invest in young men with passion and determination. Having no children despite his wealth, he found peace in doing so. Emmy never forgot the man. Among all the young men the investor supported, Emmy became his right-hand man. Emmy’s life changed, and so did his family’s life. They lacked nothing. Everything continued to go well until Emmy turned 20. He began to feel that life was not complete without a partner, so he decided to start searching for his soulmate. For someone like Emmy, what kind of wife would he desire? Finding his soulmate proved challenging, and this journey will be narrated in Chapter Three. Chapter three will be out next week, same community, same time.
