Grandson's School Update

I mentioned a few weeks ago that my grandson school has not gone back to school as yet and they are doing online lessons for now. They have no physical school due to unforeseen circumstances or should we say bad luck which is actually being kind. I was hoping for the first week in February that all this will be resolved ,but maybe some time in February or the first week in March is more realistic. I understand this has taken time to change schools as the old school was sold to developers and my guess it has already been flattened so no turning back.

This is a special needs school so there is only around 32 children who attend this school and each teacher is a specialist/doctor so these types of schools are few and far between. You kind of can't say we will just change schools because in my grandson's case he needs what they have on offer for him. He has been thriving with these teachers and has become a teachers assistant in mathematic classes helping other kids who are not as quick at finishing assignments in class.

The first school they were going to move to turned out had a bigger problem with regard to cable theft and they would have had no electricity more than they had electricity. The area was once an upmarket are and is now lets say in a politically correct way not so good. Foreigners have moved into the area and is riddled in crime and a parents teachers evening you could get propositioned by ladies of the night or worse.

The second school in a far better area was on the cards for the first day of school tomorrow except the principal pulled the plug late last week for not being appropriate. The school or proposed school had long drop toilets and you would have thought this was obvious on the first visit before thinking wow this is nice.

Not sure if the plumbing was obvious or how the principal found out, but again an obvious over sight on their part that does not fill me with confidence. The above is an extreme example for an off the grid type toilet that is basically a deep hole underneath the seat and why the name of long drop. I have heard of horror stories with these and young kids and long drops are not a good combination. Who in 2026 based in a suburban area has these things still and at a school?

The latest is they have bought a commercial building close by and it must be an old office block or something along those lines. They say purchased so I hope they have checked this one out properly. My daughter said they expect the school to open some time this week and knowing how quickly these things happen that is wishful thinking.

My guess is another 2 or 3 weeks before they move in as property purchases don't get completed in a few days and there is definitely a process that is followed. There has been very little common sense shown thus far and my guess there is very little understanding from whoever is driving this school bus. My grandson knows they are moving schools and wants to get back to school. I am wondering how many kids will be left by the time they move in as parents would have to have been staying off work for this length of time. My grandson is easy and what we call normal (poor vision), but other kids have serious problems and disabilities so not just a case of finding a baby sitter.
