Breaking news! At 7 am today a new temperature record was reported in Cuba: 0 degreesā¦ wow, 2026 is definitely going to bring astonishing things!
Indio Hatuey, in Matanzas, records a temperature milestoneā¦
But yesterday...Yesterday there was already an alert because the thermometers dropped to 1.4 degrees Celsius.
Yet we had the blue sky back again after a few grey, wintry hours. The cold hadnāt left yesterday (2nd February) when I went out cycling, so I had to wear a short-sleeved t-shirt, a long-sleeved one, a coat, and that scarf I use to go incognito š, covering my throat and my lips. They dry out in the cold wind, just like my cheeksā¦ it felt as though my skin was being stretched.
I was really keen to get out on my bicycle, and I took the chance to test the camera with another accessory that came with my Akaso Brave 4. Itās like a clamp, and I hadnāt used it until now. So I placed it in some rather odd spots, not always with success, but I managed to salvage something from the footage. Iām genuinely pleased, because it feels like all that time experimenting wasnāt wasted.
I covered a total of 24 and a half kilometres. After the first part of the ride, I stopped to visit two dear friends who met thanks to me and ended up married. She always reminds me whenever she sees me that Iām the godmother of their wedding, and with a discreet š tug on my ear she also tells me I ought to visit them more often.
Of course this doesnāt appear in the video, but just a little earlier thereās a brief visit to a kiosk selling plants, seeds, and all sorts of gardening items. I stopped to ask because I was surprised not to see the guarapera (a typical sugarcane juice stall) I used to visit in that area. It turns out it hasnāt existed for a very long time.
I hope you enjoy this third and final instalment, documenting the days of ārawā winter š in Havana. By the way, this video is raw as well; I only made a few cuts and joined it together. These are the colours captured with my little action camera, without any alterations or enhancements.
