Hey so as an artist I always tend to draw my avatar as a Profile picture once every year atleast . But I hadn't done that since 2022 . So today I will be making my Profile picture and this will be a detailed tutorial about how others can draw in the similar way as I did .

Well first of all let's grab our sketchbook and on the page I always label what I'm trying to draw . Also I use either a 0.5 mechanical pencil or a 2.0 mechanical pencil to start the rough sketch .

Now my idea for my profile picture was to draw something that looks like Blythe doll also I had taken inspo from my own outfit .Because I wanted this avatar to represent me .

Thing with stylized anatomy is that different cartoon or artstyles have different proportions . Like for Blythe dolls we need to make the face more rounder , eyes more bigger than the nose . So here I drew the face proportions which u can see here the brow line is at half of the face and the lower line is where the lips will be . Similar to a child like face proportion. Also I made curves on sides of the eyes because these dolls have lifted cheeks to give them that chubby cheek look .

Now below the brow line I will make eye sockets by making oval shaped this will be our guideline to draw the eye shape and over it are the eyelid folds .

Below these in middle is the rhombus shape which is gonna be our nose and below that is where the mouth is gonna be , either sides of the eyes are gonna be ears as well .

After this I will erase this whole thing leaving just faint little lines and draw in details . We first draw the face shape and ears neatly then I draw the lips and nose in a very subtle way add some circles for the blush and then we start making the lashes so the upper lash line is like. A curved S line and I start making eye lashes from below the water line . For the lower i just make it rounder at the outter end and inner end is a bit narrower for the bottom ai just add 3 lines for the lashes . I also drew the eye brows making them thinner and lifted and eyelid folds too.

Neck for this is like a cylindrical shape attached on top of a diamond shape . Now we repeat and make both eyes same way .

For the pupils here is a simple hack I draw + signs I the same direction I want my avatar to look in and I make the three points of this + sign into a crescent shape and color it black this automatically makes that eye pupil then I add another circle to make the eye lense . This is the base of any Blythe doll avatar you wanna make .

Now for the outfit I chose something like a E girl Hijabi so this is like a modest yet modern looking outfit that has Hijab , a bandana , headphones , a cool Jersey Tee .

So now I started drawing draped hijab where one end was Infront like long hair and the other hijab end in wrapped and draped along the neck and the head is also covered with a bandana .

So I drew the shapes first of how the scarf will drape and what parts will be darker and the bandana with be on top so there weren't many folds in that after this I also drew the jersey shirt . And I really wanted to draw me doing a peace hand sign so I made a hand too . In end I also added headphones on top .

For the next step I made the values lighter and darker like where the dark parts will be this helps in identifying folds so the sketch was complete that's why I took a picture of it adjusted the light and contrast and saved it .

Now we import this same image in Ibis paint and like here is another hack for people who wanna color over their sketches but the paper underneath looks gray . Just select the color picker tool select the paper layer color , now make another layer on top of the sketch put that on divide setting in color blending mode and voila the gray ness of the page will be gone now .

Now make another layer below the line art layer

So today I wanted my pfp to have that charcoal pencils effect and so I used a charcoal brush to color my sketch . First of all I make a skin layer and color it into a skin tone .

Next I made another layer this one for the scarf I selected a darker blue shade and roughly colored the scarf part . Here is the fun part I will clip another layer over this base colored layer and using a even darker shade of blue I will color the values on the sketch this will show the folds and depth in drapes of the scarf clearly . I made another layer for the bandana and colors it a solid blue and just erased the bandana patterns .

I clip another layer on the bandana layer and select a very vibrant royal blue and just stroke the middle part of the bandana to give it that highlighted blended rendered effect .

Same for the scarf I clip another layer on the scarf base layer and add more vibrant blues to the parts that would look lighter .

After this I made another layer for the Tee and I start with a solid Gray color then I clip a layer on top of this and add lil highlights with a lighter shade of a more purple gray . Crayon and charcoal textured brushes give it a more blended cartoony effect which was what I was going for . After this I also made white stripes on the sleeves and then I clipped another layer and made a number 92 on it as Numbered jerseys are very much in trend these days . On top off this number sticker I use white color to blend it out and that is all for the outfit .

Now for the face I went back to the base layer for the skin and clipped a layer on top of it . Reason why I'm rendering the skin in last is because I wanted outfit to not clash with the face tones . Now I start by taking a coral shade and paint the cheeks nose lips and nose contour with this shade and then use guassian blurr to blurr this out and give it a more subtle effect .

Now I take a light orange shade and color the darkest parts of the face like the nose sides , and temples and blend it out .now I erased clipped another layer and colored the eye part white after this I drew eyelashes with a pen sharp brush I always use this brush for eyelashes . Then I painted the eye pupils brown and I painted the eyebrows all with charcoal brush and I kept the color a very light brown .

Next I erased extra brow lines and blended the face blush lil more added more color to the lips . I also rendered the hand same way . Added few light peach highlights to the nose and inner corner of the eyes and the face was quite done.

After this I colored the headphones with a black color and here is the final result of it . I saved the drawing at this point as a PNG because I wanted to make a sticker out of it .

But for the Profile picture we must also add a background and going by color theory blue goes well with yellow so I'm using yellow in the back ground .

I used a yellow shade with a textured brush and painted the background and painted white flowers over it and here is the final result .

I also uploaded a timelapse of it on my Instagram here is the link to that .
