I just finished watching Episode 3 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and my hate for spoilers has just received a truckload of more fuel!
I've always been of the opinion that movies and series USUALLY don't do a good job of hiding spoilers in their teasers, trailers, synopsis, plot summaries, etc. Not just the movies themselves but blogs and other people who mean to leave information about the movie without spoilers.
But then again I'm pretending not to know that it is because my mind is very sharp and sometimes the slightest hints are too much for me.
I could just see some little scene in a trailer and my sharp mind would dig deep in a few seconds and tell me what may have led to that scene and whole watching I'll be expecting my guess to turn out to be right and a great lot of times it is right!
But in today's episode it wasn't even a hint or something small, it was something huge in the plot summary I came across and I saw it when I googled "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" after watching the first episode. This was what I saw:
And it was such a sad spoiler, the part that Knight Duncan's squire Egg was Aegon Tagaryen. When I found this out from this source it was sad because I would have preferred to find out while watching the movie itself. At the point I found out it hadn't been revealed that Egg was a Targaryen and that would have been a great surprise if I found it out in the course of watching.
And just now that it was revealed in Episode 3 I got even more sad because they revealed it in such a great way and that would have been so pleasantly hard hitting if I hadn't already found out from that innocent Google search.
That was such a great surprise in the show and the biggest surprise yet but I didn't get to feel the impact because I already knew it before it was revealed. I wonder if there would be a greater surprise in future episodes, or if there'll even be any great surprises to at least give me the pleasure that comes from big plot surprises 🤦🏿♂️.
I'll just have to wait to find out but I can't even watch with that much hope because I feel like I missed the best one set up for me. People really have to do better jobs at hiding spoilers when they talk about movies on blogs and stuff, or use warnings or something. Damn Wikipedia.
