When you see a big business spending, sometimes you may feel it is just a show off. So it seems, until you grow into the needed criteria. A friend of mine some years ago told about economic waste and when I took time to do the necessary calculations I came to realize he was making a lot of sense. Big businesses make realistic calculations so they offset unnecessary future losses.

Maybe I should come in early with this illustration. Feeding yourself to walk 2 miles or paying for transportation, which is an efficient usage?. Let's say it takes the same amount to do both. So you decided to fuel your stomach. Was that the right decision? Consider how you will end up stressing yourself, the entire time it will take you to cover two miles. If it were to be a meeting, you are likely to arrive late. How does this fit into our generator usage
Embedded Image source I had to turn my attention to our energy sector again. Ok, we have two generator engines and to me, my current calculations for expansion keeps them obsolete. Each is running around 2.8KVA to 3KVA. At its collection Power, we are talking of 6KVA here; something can't leverage because of its individuality. The cost of both currently is at around N750,000 currently. On the second note, these are PMS (Petrol motor spirit) engines which easily burn out when talking of running time per litre.

This is a challenge at hand, we can't leverage combination power, meaning we will have to manage how we use the limited KVA to even avoid damaging the engine while it is also not durable in terms of PMS expenses. The prices are affordable but a long run expenses is a loss. Have you considered how much PMS it will take us to run that generator an entire day? What is the best option here? Replace both with a more efficient one. In many cases, quality always beats quantity.

It was one of those researches I was doing and I came to realize a diesel engine (lister) of around 20KVA can be bought for around N1.5 million. Maybe if we had seen such visions some years earlier we should have gotten one at around N500K. I remember some time earlier that we planned on that but we couldn't meet up the pricing. It was something staggering to us by then and if that were to be mentioned NOW, at least we would have sourced ourselves out to rectify it
Embedded Image source Our first office never had that space and it was by then just a Laundry department. Getting a lister would have been the best option but security issues were that big concerns. Down here in our warehouse, that seems not a problem but overtime the challenge NOW is cost.

To conclude, let me add, we are now all eyes on efficiently adapting business tactics. We have been able to analyze the energy sector, what is left now and the important step is that big move to close that gap. Business seems like a battlefield, with advanced weapons comes advantages.
