Creo que en más de una ocasión he dejado caer sobre la mesa lo mucho que disfruto de ver cuánta serie o película llama mi atención. Sentimiento que compartimos entre todos los que interactuamos en esta comunidad a fin para estos temas cinematográficos y de entretenimiento en #Hive. Hasta el momento cargaba el récord en ver cada contenido con cierta tolerancia, sin juzgar o discriminar algún que otro género cinematográfico.
Cada audiovisual es un alma libre, con un mensaje que lo hace especialmente agradable, o todo lo contrario. Hoy terminé de ver la primera temporada de una serie de la que muchísimos han estado opinando en redes sociales, en especial la nuestra. Confieso que me tomó su tiempo esperar por el espacio y momento oportuno para verla finalmente.
Así que les traigo mi opinión sobre la serie "Pluribus" de Apple TV+, la cual, desde su salida a dicha plataforma, en noviembre del pasado año, rápidamente se convirtió en una de las series más controvertidas y comentadas del año. En muchas ocasiones coincidí con buenísimas opiniones de esta serie, lo que de cierta manera alentó en mí altas expectativas sobre lo que quizás iba a encontrarme en este material.
Así como los elogios hacia Rhea Seehorn, por su excelente trabajo como la protagonista de esta nueva manera de mostrarnos un nuevo final para la humanidad. Pero esta vez sin zombies devoradores, explosiones nucleares o robots asesinos manipulados por la inteligencia artificial IA. En este mundo de caos en el que convivimos, donde somos fácilmente manipulables por la codicia, el consumismo desmedido y ese mal de antaño de nunca ponernos de acuerdo en nada.
"Pluribus" se encarga de mostrarnos su propia versión de ese final del mundo como lo conocemos, quizás el más tonto de creer, pero a la misma vez, el más sencillo y genial que se le pudo haber ocurrido a alguien. Creo que nadie se esperaba un mundo donde se nos "regala", entre comillas, una felicidad casi o prácticamente obligatoria, colectiva y, aunque parezca algo tentador, se sobrepasa a tal punto de llegar a hacerse asfixiante.
El genio detrás de esta perturbadora historia es Vince Gilligan, quien anteriormente también hizo ruido con títulos como "Breaking Bad" y "Better Call Saul". Por arribita y sin mucho detalle para no hacerles spoiler si es que no la han visto aún, se trata de un virus de origen extraterrestre o al menos eso cuenta la trama, que infecta a casi toda la humanidad. Quienes terminan transformándose en una especie de "colmena", como la de obreras obedientes y laboriosas, un todos siendo uno, sin conflictos, guerras, envidias o individualismos.
Este virus revierte todo lo negativo de la especie humana, volviendo a las personas más amables, serviciales, optimistas y con una preocupación enfermiza por el bienestar ajeno. Aquí entra Sturka (Seehorn), una famosa novelista de romances, con ciertas características que la hacen muy diferente a "ellos". Ya que es inmune al virus junto a otras doce en todo el planeta Tierra, destacando su personaje por estar caracterizado por su cínico sentido del humor, solitaria, liberal y bastante amargada.
"Pluribus", sin lugar a dudas, es un buen contenido, aunque se puede tornar un tanto aburrido, incluso frustrante inicialmente, por su ritmo lento de contar la historia. Pero logra llevarnos a la reflexión como espectadores, para que simpaticemos con ese carácter insoportable, egoísta y a veces cruel de Carol, algo completamente normal y que simplemente la vuelve humana. Hasta que de cierta manera nos lleva a pensar cómo sería un mundo así, sin todas estas cosas negativas que arrastramos. En fin, que casi no parece que estuviéramos ante una serie de ciencia ficción.
En mi opinión, luego de ver la serie, considero necesario este ritmo pausado introducido con toda intencionalidad, probando nuestra tolerancia hacia un tema del que casi nadie habla. Es como si la serie se planteara transmitirnos agotamiento, impotencia, pero contada de otra manera; estoy más que seguro de que nos hubiéramos perdido gran parte de la magia. Estuve leyendo en varios sitios en internet que su segunda temporada está confirmada, e incluso que pudiera extenderse hasta cuatro temporadas.
De esta serie pudiéramos estar muchísimo tiempo debatiendo, porque contenido tiene para eso, pero esta fue mi humilde opinión. Y a modo de resumen, por si todavía no la has visto, te alerto que "Pluribus" no es una serie para todo el mundo. Específicamente para los más frenéticos amantes de la acción, los que probablemente la dejen a medias, como mismo pensé en más de una ocasión. Pero quise encontrarle ese atractivo que muchos compartían en sus publicaciones, y creo que lo logré.

Each audiovisual work is a free spirit, with a message that makes it especially enjoyable, or quite the opposite. Today, I finished watching the first season of a series that many have been discussing on social media, especially on ours. I confess that it took me a while to wait for the right time and place to finally watch it.
So, I bring you my opinion on the Apple TV+ series "Pluribus," which, since its release on that platform in November last year, quickly became one of the most controversial and talked-about series of the year. On many occasions, I agreed with very good opinions about this series, which in a way encouraged me to have high expectations about what I might find in this material.
As well as the praise for Rhea Seehorn for her excellent work as the protagonist of this new way of showing us a new end for humanity. But this time without flesh-eating zombies, nuclear explosions or killer robots manipulated by artificial intelligence (AI). In this chaotic world in which we live, where we are easily manipulated by greed, excessive consumerism and that age-old problem of never agreeing on anything.
Pluribus shows us its own version of the end of the world as we know it, perhaps the most ridiculous to believe, but at the same time, the simplest and most brilliant that anyone could have come up with. I don't think anyone expected a world where we would be 'given', in quotation marks, an almost or practically obligatory, collective happiness, and although it may seem tempting, it goes so far that it becomes suffocating.
The genius behind this disturbing story is Vince Gilligan, who previously caused a stir with titles such as "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul". Without going into too much detail so as not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, it's about a virus of extraterrestrial origin, or at least that's what the plot says, which infects almost all of humanity. Those who end up transforming into a kind of 'hive', like that of obedient and hard-working workers, all being one, without conflict, war, envy or individualism.
This virus reverses all the negative aspects of the human species, making people kinder, more helpful, more optimistic and with an unhealthy concern for the welfare of others. This is where Sturka (Seehorn) comes in, a famous romance novelist with certain characteristics that make her very different from 'them'. She is immune to the virus, along with twelve others on the entire planet Earth, and her character stands out for her cynical sense of humour, her solitary nature, her liberalism and her considerable bitterness.
Pluribus is undoubtedly good content, although it can become a bit boring, even frustrating at first, due to its slow pace of storytelling. But it manages to make us, the viewers, reflect and sympathise with Carol's unbearable, selfish and sometimes cruel character, something completely normal that simply makes her human. Until, in a way, it leads us to think about what a world like this would be like, without all these negative things we carry with us. In short, it almost doesn't seem like we're watching a science fiction series.
In my opinion, after watching the series, I consider this deliberately slow pace necessary, testing our tolerance for a subject that almost no one talks about. It's as if the series sets out to convey exhaustion and helplessness, but told in a different way; I'm more than sure that we would have missed out on much of the magic. I've been reading on various websites that a second season has been confirmed, and that it could even be extended to four seasons.
We could spend a long time discussing this series, because it has plenty of content for that, but this was my humble opinion. And to sum up, in case you haven't seen it yet, I should warn you that Pluribus is not a series for everyone. Specifically for the most frenetic action lovers, who will probably give up halfway through, as I myself thought on more than one occasion. But I wanted to find the appeal that many shared in their posts, and I think I succeeded.
