EXPLORING SABANG ISLAND // The coastal road offers views of the blue sea and small islands.

This is my first experience of vacationing on Sabang Island, as a first experience of course I am still quite unfamiliar with everything here, starting from the place, the atmosphere, and about life, but Sabang is still included in the province of Aceh.After resting overnight at the inn,we decided to take a trip around Sabang at 07.00 in the morning, at that time the sun was not yet hot enough and the natural atmosphere was still quite calm and fresh.

In the morning I could see everything on this island and one thing that immediately amazed me was the natural atmosphere.Sabang has an area of ​​153 square km and has five main islands, namely Weh, Klah, Rubiah, Seulako and Rondo,for more detailed information, you can see it here

I often hear information about Sabang Island from some of my friends who have been here, they say that this island is still 70% natural with dense forests and its ecosystem is still well maintained, of course I did not immediately believe the information because I always thought that Takengon city was one of the almost perfect cities for me, but on January 31, 2026 I saw and witnessed it directly, it turns out that Sabang Island is much more beautiful than I expected, this island is surrounded by open seas and the land is filled with towering mountains, and it sounds quite amazing.

On this island we can find many natural tourist destinations, especially those on the coast, along the road that I have passed I can see that there are many forest areas that are still very well preserved, even along the road I can hear the sounds of animals and the sound of birds chirping in the trees, the atmosphere is much calmer and fresher than the road to the city of Takengon, I do not intend to compare the two places, but once again I have to say to myself that the city of Sabang is much more beautiful than my expectations.

Just as I started to pass through the hilly road, on my right I faintly saw a bright blue color behind the dense trees and plants on the side of the road, when I arrived at the top of the hill I was immediately amazed by the natural scenery of the ocean and the small islands around it.

In my entire life, I've never seen such a beautiful sight. Do you know what differentiates the sea in Sabang from the seas around where I live (Aceh Tamiang or Bireuen City)? Many of the marine areas around Sabang have incredibly rich coral reef ecosystems, which is why the sea is so clear and blue.It is not surprising that many tourist destinations in Sabang provide snorkeling facilities, visitors can see the diversity of marine life clearly, and this is one of the exciting activities that should not be missed when on holiday on Sabang Island.

The road conditions are also relatively smooth, so we can explore every place with easy access either by motorbike or car. Along the way, I also met many tourists, even foreign tourists.

Strangely, along the way I could almost always see the view of the ocean on the right side of the road and the towering mountains on the left side of the road (depending on which direction we started the journey from), I even found many interesting buildings such as mosques and several other buildings with interesting architecture.

With the natural scenery offered by this place, I feel like I want to stay here for quite a long time, there are still many areas that I haven't visited and I won't even have time to visit them because I don't have enough time, Sabang still holds many mysteries for me and that makes me curious to visit it again.
