Good morning, @worldmappin community. On Thursday, 22 January, I began a cruise along the coast of South America, visiting the ports of Buenos Aires (where I embarked), Rio de Janeiro, Ilhabela, Camboriu, and Montevideo.
The 22nd was my boarding date at 2:00 p.m. I arrived at the port an hour early and immediately they gave me a number along with other people to go through the different stages of boarding in groups. The ship was the MSC Fantasia, which accommodated 3,000 guests, so it was best to be organised. You go to a waiting room, wait about 30 minutes, and then go through immigration. In 20 minutes, we were already boarding the ship.
My first day was spent touring the ship, watching it leave the port, having dinner, and getting ready for the different activities that a ship has to offer. The company has an app that gives you information about daily activities ranging from dance classes, games, competitions, and theme parties, as well as the different amenities such as the gym, which is part of the package, the spa, which is not part of the package, and many other things. The buffet was open practically 24 hours a day, and there were restaurants for those who, like me, don't like the hustle and bustle of the buffet (plus the food was tastier).
We had two days of sailing to the port of Rio de Janeiro. We didn't pay for any excursions from the ship as they are extremely expensive, and hiring one below deck didn't make me feel safe, so I had previously found out what to do in the port area, and there are many things to do, from a trip around the world, an aquarium, an art museum, and the Amanhá Museum. I went to the world tour and the Amanhã Museum, which has a very modern structure. The museum is about raising awareness of the damage we humans are doing to the planet. Admission is $8 and $4 for minors. The world tour is also very affordable at $8. We didn't go to the art museum because we were already tired, but admission was $4. Although I had heard that the aquarium is excellent and it looks very nice from the outside, we didn't go in because admission was $30 per person, which was too expensive for our budget. Then we went to eat at a bar in the port. Well, @worldmappin community, that's all for today's story. I'll leave the rest of the ports for another blog post. Thank you for reading, see you soon.
