This is my post for #freewriters 3000 prompt three thousand days hosted by @mariannewest
I have done all I can do to protect my plants. I did not cut the bananas or cover these two bunches. I know I will lose them. I also did not get my star fruit tree covered. Everything else is covered, now if the covers will stay with the wind gusts of 50mph.
This banana tree is a dwarf Cavendish. I could reach them and covered the stalk the best I could.
I took three steps in covering the pineapples that are planted in the ground. First I covered them with cardboard.
Next I covered them with palm fronds.
And last I put weed mat over everything and held it down with rocks, bricks, fence posts, and an old boat trailer rim. I threw palm fronds on top of the red bromeliads. I hope they stay.
My sister came and helped me cover some of the big plants, so I did not have to cut them back.
I took a couple of cuttings from my Hawaiian Ti plants and the Florida Hibiscus, but even though I covered them, I doubt they will survive. It is snowing in Gainsville Fl.
I would like to congratulate @mariannewest. I wonder if she knew when she started #freewriters we would still be writing three thousand days later. What an accomplishment. Marianne, you are missed. I wonder if you are still taking your hikes and would love to see photos from them. I would also love an update on how you are doing. I hope you are in good health and still able to crochet. To make the things you make is a true talent. I hope to see a post from you soon. photos are mine
