This is my post for #freewriters 2999 prompt mobile home hosted by @mariannewest
The bad thing about cold weather and living in a mobile home is all of the open space under it. They lowered our temperature once again. Now they say we will get down to 25 degrees with a wind chill of 15. We are to have tropical storm force winds out of the north, which is over 35 mph. Where we are located, we are always colder than everyone else, so I expect twenty or twenty two degrees.
We will have rain in the morning, so I wanted to get what I could done today. I have worked my tail off and now am paying for it with pain, but I still have so much left to do tomorrow. I took some cuttings from my plumerias because I doubt they will survive, the tree is huge. I also took cuttings from the dragon fruit.
I will need to drain the pump on the swimming pool and take the hoses from it.
To do this, I needed these three little plugs. I did not think of having to do this when I put the plants in my shed.
See the box on the top shelf with the white hoses sticking out. That is where the plugs were. I had to pull the desert roses out to get to them.
This is an Indian Almond tree. My husband picked a seabean up on the beach and planted it, but I doubt it will make it. When I researched what the seed was, I found out it came from the Amazon. It has already went through two freezes this month, it has never lost its leaves before.
I got all of my pineapples into my husband's shed today. I have some planted in the ground, so I gathered all of the cardboard I could find, and since we will have rain in the morning, I put it in there, too. I am going to cover them with it, then put palm fronds on top of the cardboard, then weedmat, and last, I will cover it all with black plastic.
Seven pineapple plants have a pineapple starting to grow. I hope his shed will stay warm enough. All I have for heat in there will be lightbulbs.
Last week I covered weeds with black plastic to kill them, now I had to take the plastic off because it will protect the weeds from the cold.
Tomorrow, after the rain, I will try to cover as many planted plants as I have covering for. I have some big plants that I can not cover, and I am seriously thinking about cutting them back so I can get something over them. I hate to cut them back, but if it will save them, I just might do it. I have two bunches of bananas, they are not ready to cut the stalk, but I might cut them anyway and take a chance on them ripening. There is a reason people do not grow so many plants, it is cold weather. photos are mine
