I always see lots of squirrels, yet at one time there were no squirrels in my neighborhood. What happened, maybe the population of squirrels grew and out grew their own neighborhood into my neighborhood.
Cause before I remember looking in my backyard and no squirrels, but maybe with all the California fires that we been having over the years did it too.
All I know is that I just look up the electric and telephone poles and up the large trees in my neighborhood and there they are, squirrels.
Well if you look at the squirrels, that seems like a lot of meat or a good meal for a feral cat.
Now a feral cat, defined by our local spay and neuter place says, a feral cat is a cat that you can not just pet and pick up. Well I see 2 cats in my backyard today that I know I can not pet and pick up as I just walk near them and they run away. So they are feral cats as defined by our local spay and neuter place.
Well I have seen feral cats with a squirrel in its mouth, sometimes dead and sometimes the squirrel was just caught by the feral cat alive.
I never feed the feral cats in my backyard, but I can see they look big and well fed, so that is good.
Of course squirrels look cute and I rather not see the squirrels being eaten by the feral cats, but the feral cats need to eat.
I do like it when the feral cats eat the rats. As I cannot stand the rats. I live where there is a river north of me and another river south of me, and they have river rats and of course the river rats move out into the neighborhood.
So that is another meat source for the feral cats.
At one time my house had several rats. Over time I know I killed 18 rats in my house using the common rat traps and my own cat killed about 5 rats. I never seen my cat eat any of the rats she killed so after I know it is dead I take it from her and leave it out on a plate outside, where I know the skunks under my house are, and they would usually eat the dead rats.
So I noticed a squirrel on my walk, and I notice squirrels all the time on my walks, cute little things.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this the whole of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13.
