The national park surrounding the Cotapaxi volcano, has lots of wild horses on the slopes. Unfortunatly the snowy top was covered in clouds when I was here, but you can see some of the snow on the top. The volcano is 5.897 meters high. It is possible to drive up the slopes to a car park and from here walk to the Refugio José Ribas at 4.800 m. This is a lodge where climbers usually stay befor aim for the summit. If you have a good eye, it is possible to see condors, pumas, wolves and birds.
