Many days this past month I've done gesture drawings. If your not familiar with the term, gesture drawing is a quick drawing which aims to capture the pose or something of the pose. I've also been doing lessons through Proko that teach different techniques and ways of understanding and seeing the pose. While I didn't hit every day, I did do most days. And a few of the days I missed I did it on paper whiiiiiiich I of course lost.
The first bit of Prokos class was the bean. The bean is simplifying the human torso into a bean shape. Like this. These were some of my frist beans. The line's aren't confident. Cause I'm really not confident cause I'm new to the technic.
By later in the week I was much more confident in my beans. Not sure if you can tell. But i had an easier time getting a feel for a pose.
Lessons after that covered landmarks on the body which are helpful when trying to get stuff right in the drawing. I started thinking about those when doing full figure drawings.
The next lesson was the robo bean. For this the chest/ribcage and hips/but are turned into cubes/rectangular prisms. This keeps a lot more information then the bean but is harder to do. It's also not as quick.
The last thing I got inot over the course of the month was the simplification of a figure. For this the limbs and head extremities are turned int simple cylinders and such. The first few poses I did this with it took me a LONG time. But thanks to progress I can do a decent job simplify a pose in 5-6 min.
After that I decided it'd be fun to start dressing up figures a bit. I collected a whole bunch of refrences on pintrest and just picked as I felt like.
So that's what I did in January. And didn't really post much of. Some gestures were posted in snaps.
