Ground rules set a good foundation for a smooth and good experience in our wonderful community. With the rise of AI, and with new users, we felt it was important to publish these rules for the new year.
NO AI SLOP OR PLAGIARISM
Hive = Human Effort, Rewarded.
We've moved this up the top this year - as AI slop is making us totally fed up.
Pretty simple.
And, there's not a single person in the world that doesn't know stealing is wrong, so your content has to be original or we'll mute you.
We get it when AI is used to correct, aid grammar, and so on - but totally AI content is out, and most of the time AI images aren't acceptable either.
Post Length
Whilst we make exceptions, we prefer a minimum of 300 words.
The community felt that 300 words was appropriate last year and we think that's fair. Shorter content can go on Snaps or any of the microblogging tools on this blockchain.
In short (haha) effort gets reward. We don't tend to mute immediately and give fair warning, and if you post a shorter post now and then, especially if you usually post solid content, we're really not that fussed at all. But if you're always posting short, one - three sentences posts, those posts will be muted.
We really want the content in the community to be valuable and engaging for all - one image and one or two sentences rarely add much value.
The community reserves the right to post short form if needed in the day to day admin - we'd prefer you not to quibble if we make an announcement that isn't exactly 300 words.
English is Preferred
We love our international gardeners, but we're also time poor - we don't to waste time translating your post, and this can be very hard to read if you're viewing the blockchain from outside Hive.
If you want to make it dual language, write in English first, then your own language.
We don't mind if the grammar isn't quite right - we just want your heart and soul.
Photographs
Unless it's a before and after shot, keep it to one photograph per plant and be selective about your photographs.
Collages are welcome.
We really, really don't like ten blurry photos of the one plant from various angles. Less is more.
Snaps
We also look for the #hivegarden and #gardening tags on Snaps. You'll find this on the Peakd platform. It's just like Twitter or Instagram threads.
Don't be a 🍆
Discussing politely can result in a much nicer resolution than being reactionary.
Remember the admin team is just trying to help and support you and the interests of the community.
Please be kind to others and be a good human.
