No exige nada. No corre.

Small Things That Sustain Me #01 by @veramfund.

Hello community @ladiesofhive, I’m back with you for the third chapter of Small Things That Sustain Me.

The Sound of Water After the Rain.

There are days that arrive with too much noise inside. Crossed thoughts, unnamed pending things, emotions that don’t know where to sit. On those days I don’t look for big answers. I look for something that turns the volume down. And I almost always find it in a tiny thing: the sound of water after the rain.

I’m not talking about the strong storm, or the dramatic downpour that floods everything. I’m talking about that moment after. When the worst has already passed and the world stays wet, cleaner, as if it were breathing differently. The streets still shine, the leaves drip, the roofs let fall small notes of water that sound like a secret language. I like to go out when it’s no longer raining. To walk without an umbrella, slowly, listening. The water that falls from balconies, from cables, from branches. It’s a soft sound, irregular, but constant. It doesn’t demand anything. It doesn’t rush. It just is.

In that moment I feel that everything can be like that with me too. That I don’t have to solve everything today. That I can stay a while listening, without producing, without explaining, without getting anywhere. The water teaches me that: to be.

After the rain, my city becomes slower. Cars lower their speed, people walk carefully, the air smells different. And I also become a little softer inside. As if something settled without asking me. There is something very beautiful in seeing how the water stays a little longer and then goes away. It doesn’t cling. It doesn’t stay trapped. It does its job and continues. And that, without knowing it, also teaches me to let go.

When I hear the water after the rain, I feel that the world tells me, calm down, it’s over. and even if I don’t know exactly what happened, I believe it. That also holds me up.

Thank you very much for reading me. This is Vera, learning to hold herself in the simple.
