I just recovered from fever this morning so I woke up a little late. I'm already dressed, ready to go, then you sit down and deal with something that should be easy but somehow kept failing. It’s not a big problem, just one of those tiny annoyances that tests your patience especially on a rush hour.
I Hate Shoe Laces
I crossed it once, I looped it twice, Trying to make it look halfway nice. One ear stands proud, the other droops, Uneven knots and crooked loops.
I tug again. Something's wrong, This shouldn’t take this damn long. Fingers fumble, tumble and twists, I need to do it fast, let me finish, please.
I stand up fast, take one small step, The knot gave away. It never kept. Sit down again, annoyance grows, Let's do it again. I'm angry, it shows.
These damn laces seem to have a mind, I get it to tie, and then unwind. Please let it lock. I need to go. School is not waiting. I gotta hurry though.
Once again, I tie them slow. With extra care so it wouldn't blow. Pull them firm. Make it tough, not to break. I just gotta hurry. This damn knot, I'll make.
I stepped once, then stepped twice. Prepared to undo, prepared to rise. They hold for now but I don’t trust, I need to go now. Let's go fast.
This is a real story. I was annoyed, It felt like I was being toyed. I got to school. I am happy. This damn laces were finally snappy.
