Eine neue HBO-Dokumentation über Bitcoin behauptet die Identität von Satoshi Nakamoto aufgedeckt zu haben. Ist Len Sassaman Satoshi oder ist es nur Marketing für die Doku?
Lan Sassaman wird schon längere Zeit als möglicher Satoshi-Kandidat gehandelt. Er war ein amerikanischer Informatiker, Cyberpunk, der zuletzt in Belgien lebte und bei vielen Open-Source-Projekten im Kryptografie und Privacy-Bereich mitwirkte.
Len arbeitete zum Beispiel an der Wartung eines Projekts für anonyme E-Mails (Mixmaster) mit. Auch für die Internet Engineering Taks Force (IETF), die für die Entwicklung des TCP/IP-Protokolls zuständig ist, war er tätig.
Was ebenfalls für die Satoshi-Identität spricht, Len litt an Depressionen und beginn kurz nach dem Verschwinden von Satoshi Nakamoto aus der Cyberpunk-Mailingliste, Selbstmord.
Der ebenfalls in der Bitcoin-Community bekannte Security Researcher Dan Kaminsky hinterließ in der Bitcoin-Blockchain eine Gedenktransaktion für Len Sassaman mit einer ASCII-Art, die in eine Bitcoin-Transaktion eingebettet wurde.
Auch auf der Hive Blockchain (damals Steem) hat ein naher Freund der Familie Sassaman darüber berichtet und die Information auf Hive verewigt:
Allerdings gibt es auch Gegenargumente zu der Satoshi-Hypothese von Len Sassaman. Der Schreibstil soll sich von Satoshi unterscheiden und seine Frau dementiert, dass Len an Bitcoin mitgewirkt habe, er wäre bereits mit zahlreichen FOSS-Projekten sehr ausgelastet gewesen.
Abschließend denke ich daher nicht, dass die HBO-Dokumentation die Identität von Satoshi Nakamoto endgültig aufdecken wird, sondern sie wird eher Hypothesen präsentieren, die bereits seit langem bekannt aber nicht 100% belegbar sind.
Nach wie vor wäre es auch möglich, dass Bitcoin von einem Team aus Informatikern entwickelt wurde.
Vielleicht war Len Sassaman einer davon? Was denkt ihr? Hat HBO die Identität von Satoshi Nakamoto aufgedeckt oder ist es nur Marketing-Hype für die Doku? Macht es überhaupt noch einen Unterschied, die Identität von Satoshi zu kennen?

A new HBO documentary about Bitcoin claims to have uncovered the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. Is Len Sassaman Satoshi or is it just marketing for the documentary?
Lan Sassaman has been rumored as a possible Satoshi candidate for some time. He was an American computer scientist, cyberpunk, who most recently lived in Belgium and was involved in many open source projects in the cryptography and privacy sector.
For example, Len worked on the maintenance of a project for anonymous emails (Mixmaster). He also worked for the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which is responsible for the development of the TCP/IP protocol.
Another point in favor of the Satoshi identity is that Len suffered from depression and committed suicide shortly after Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared from the cyberpunk mailing list.
Security researcher Dan Kaminsky, who is also well-known in the Bitcoin community, left a memorial transaction for Len Sassaman on the Bitcoin blockchain with an ASCII art embedded in a Bitcoin transaction.
A close friend of the Sassaman family also reported this on the Hive Blockchain (then Steem) and immortalized the information on Hive:
However, there are also counter-arguments to Len Sassaman's Satoshi hypothesis. The writing style is said to be different from Satoshi and his wife denies that Len worked on Bitcoin, saying that he was already very busy with numerous FOSS projects.
In conclusion, I do not think that the HBO documentary will definitively reveal the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, but will rather present hypotheses that have been known for a long time but are not 100% provable.
It is still possible that Bitcoin was developed by a team of computer scientists.
