Prenuptial agreement is the agreement between man and woman about to get married about properties, money and assets will be shared in case a divorce happens or death occurs. On a simple ground, prenuptial agreement looks like a good idea but as for me, it looks odd because with this, it means the couple are already planning to divorce. This may look very okay in the Western countries but for African countries, it looks odd.
Marriage is 'for better for worse'.
Marriage is a forever thing and the thought of separation or divorce should not be in view from the start of the marriage.
I would not allow such a thing when it's time for me to get married. My 'wife to be' should be able to trust our union to last and in a situation when something bad occurs at the end, let the love that we built have its way as to how things will play out.
I know also that most times, the ladies suffer the big loss in a situation where death happened to the man because the family of the man would take over everything and conditionally give the woman a little if the family decided to be pitiful on the lady. This is one of the reasons why such practice as prenuptial agreement is being enforced to have its way in our world today. In my village, this is the pattern that plays out but oftentimes the woman is always considered as a member of the family especially when they had a child before the man died. So she still possesses most of the properties in the ground of owning a child in the marriage.
