Yesterday, I mentioned in my post that I would delve into Ibrahim Konate's situation with Liverpool this season, and today I will share my thoughts on the Frenchman. At the early start of the season, there were rumours about Konate's possible exit from Liverpool by the end of this current football season as he refused Liverpool's new contract offers during the summer. At first, I thought it was just another rumour that would cool down after a few weeks but it changed when more updates came that Real Madrid were interested in signing him next summer.
There are no more rumours when you hear a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona is pushing to sign a player because the chances of players rejecting that move are very slim. Real Madrid did the same with Trent Alexander-Arnold last season, as they were in contact with the Englishman and waited although they had to pay a little fee to make Trent Alexander-Arnold join the team ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup last year, but the idea was to sign Alexander-Arnold as a free agent. Liverpool never wanted Alexander-Arnold to leave the club last summer. There was news that the club improved their offers in a new contract to Trent, but his mind was already made up about moving to Real Madrid.
Ibrahim Konate is trying to follow the same pattern as Trent Alexander-Arnold was not cool, and I won't say the club should force a player to stay, like what we witnessed between PSG and Kylian Mbappe three seasons ago, as we all know that relationship didn't end well with both parties involved. Konate has been fantastic for Liverpool minus this season, plus he is still young and has room for improvement. Now the possibility of Konate joining Real Madrid next summer is slim as the Spanish club informed Liverpool that they are not interested in pushing for the Frenchman.
It's a bummer for Konate but a chance also for the Frenchman to pick up a pen and sign a new deal with the club as soon as possible. The good thing is Liverpool is looking at the future with the signing of Giovanni, and Jeremy Jacquet is proving that the board is aware of the defence problem in the squad. It has been all I have emphasised on this season, and I am glad the board are doing the right thing this time around. Arne Slot already has the backing of the board, so we could see him next season as Liverpool manager, even though I think it's time he gets his marching orders.
There won't be an excuse next season as the board has covered all the possible areas that needed new players and hopefully Jeremine Frimpong and Conor Bradley can return soon to join the team. Ibrahim Konate is still one to watch out for, but I am certain he will be signing a new contract at Liverpool, unless Real Madrid decides to return, then he might leave Liverpool, but for now, we watch and wait to see how things turn out. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
