The 2026 FIFA World Cup is a couple of months away from gracing our screens with exciting matches from different national teams around the world. This competition is the highest level of entertainment as billions of fans around the world are all interested in seeing which country will become the champions of the world. The 2022 FIFA World Cup moments will always be a big part of my memories, as it will be one of the best editions of the FIFA World Cup competition that I have seen, simply because Leo Messi finally got the trophy he dreamed of for a long time in his career.
The nights in Qatar wouldn't be forgotten, especially the spectacular final between Argentina and France as that match had everything from top to bottom. In the end, Argentina came on and Leo Messi stamped his name in the history books of football as the greatest of all time. Now the big question is, will fans get this same feeling this coming World Cup competition happening this year? The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by three countries, which are Canada, the USA, and Mexico, as the North American countries are in a joint partnership to host the tournament, and the final of the competition will be played in the USA.
There is uncertainty around the USA hosting the World Cup due to its political views on other countries under President Donald Trump, who has made critical statements on immigration as he is using ICE to crack down on illegal immigrants within the USA. It's fine that he is putting Americans first and keeping his country safe, but dragging that political agenda into football is not acceptable. The USA has temporarily banned some countries from applying for Visas into the country temporarily and most of the countries being banned are part of the teams that will be playing at the World Cup this year.
The World Cup is a time for different people around the world to come together in unity and enjoy football, but with this ban, how are teams supposed to get their supporters in the stadium to cheer for them on the field? It has got a lot of people talking about boycotting the World Cup being played in the US, as fans are signing petitions, and it will be a bummer if there is a low turnout in the stadium because this tournament also stands as a point of revenue for FIFA. The president of FIFA has assured fans that the competition will hold without any issues, and also denied the bigger elephant in the room, which is about ICE.
First, it was about the high ticket price that was set for the group stage games to the final. It got many people talking, and it got reduced to a more suitable rate for people, but now the challenges of not even being able to apply for a visa to watch your country play at the tournament are another issue that needs to be addressed. It is quite simple if the US doesn't want anyone to enter, then why host a competition that is known for attracting millions of fans around the world to watch live in stadiums? Personal agendas and politics have always ruined football, which is why they should be far from it and let football just be played and enjoyed. So, guys, this is where I take my leave. Thanks for stopping by, and hopefully, more updates will come soon.
