A few days ago, when the tank that supplies water to the ground floor of the house ran out of water, my mother-in-law turned off all the stopcocks, the one that supplies the bathrooms and another one that supplies the kitchen and sink. When the water started to come back, she turned the two stopcocks back on and water started to flow into the kitchen and sink, but only a trickle of water was coming into the bathrooms.

Hace unos días cuando el tanque que surte de agua a la planta baja de la casa se quedó sin agua, la suegra cerró todas las llaves de paso, la que surte a los baños y otra para lo que es la cocina y batea, cuándo empezó a llegar el agua se volvieron a abrir las dos llaves de paso y el agua empezó a entrar a la cocina y la batea, pero a los baños solo entraba un hilo de agua.
So I started to check the pipe that runs from the street to the bathroom shut-off valve, and water was coming in through it, since that pipe has a Dresser joint. I disconnected it and realized that water was flowing through there, so the problem was after the valve. so the most likely scenario was that the valve had been damaged. I went to the shut-off valve to see what I needed to buy to replace it.

Así que me puse a revisar la tubería que va de la calle a la llave de paso del baño y por ésta estaba entrando agua, ya que esa tubería tiene una junta Dresser, la desconecté y me percaté que por ahí estaba circulando el agua, así que el problema era después de la llave, así que lo más seguro era que se había dañado la llave, entonces fuí hasta la llave de paso para ver qué necesitaba comprar para reemplazarla.
To replace the damaged shut-off valve, I bought a 1/2-inch union and a shut-off valve. This time, I bought a plastic shut-off valve to use with glue. I already had a 3-meter piece of 1/2-inch pipe at home and I had some glue left over.
The first thing I did was to try out the new valve to see the size of the pipe I was going to cut. I started by gluing the pipe I had cut to one end of the stop valve. I had previously sanded the ends of the pipe to give the glue more adhesion and also to remove the burr left on the pipe when cutting with the hacksaw. After cutting the other end, I glued the joint.

Para sustituir la llave de paso dañada compré una unión de 1/2 pulgada y una llave de paso, está vez compré una llave de paso de plástico para usar con pega. En casa ya tenía un pedazo de tubo de 3 metros de 1/2 pulgada y me quedaba un poco de pega.
Lo primero que hice fue presentar la llave nueva para ver el tamaño del tubo que iba a cortar, comencé pegando el tubo que corté en uno de los extremos de la llave de paso, previamente con una lija lijé los extremos del tubo para darle más adherencia a la pega y además para eliminar la rebaba que queda en el tubo al momento de cortar con la segueta, luego del otro extremo pegue la unión.
Then, with the hacksaw, I cut the pipe where the damaged valve was, sanded the ends of the pipes with sandpaper, applied the glue, and joined them with the piece that had the new valve. Since I did this at night, I left the main valve closed so that the glue would dry properly. The next morning, I opened the main valve and then the valve I had installed, and everything was fine. There were no leaks, and water flowed into the bathroom again.

Después con la segueta corte el tubo dónde está la llave dañada, luego lijé las puntas de los tubos con la lija, le coloqué la pega y los uní con la pieza que tenía la llave nueva. Como esto lo hice en la noche, dejé cerrada la llave principal para que se secara bien la pega, en la mañana del día siguiente abrí la llave principal y luego la llave que instalé y todo quedó bien, no había filtraciones y entra nuevamente el agua al baño. Así que problema resuelto.
