Basically, when we control our communities we control our security. One of the greatest tragedies of the Civil War is that regional control of our polities was lost to federal government. There's a reason that the US is the United STATES, and that reason was destroyed by the Civil War. Alabama and Pennsylvania used to be states like Germany or Italy, but now they are more like counties in Britain or cantons in Switzerland, no longer autonomous but subject to the federal government.
