Depends on what you mean by engagement. If you want people to interact with your post, you would want to interact with them and make them interested in you. I believe there are chat groups on discord and telegram for newbies. Join appropriate communities and post on their page as a starting point. Look into the hashtags folks in your niche use. Random hashtags like what you've been doing are irrelevant. You might want to look up relevant tutorials. Sometimes it takes a long period of consistency, months, to see results for effort. I did advise you think of this as a public journal and jap all you want. You don't have to stick to one niche. There's a space for everyone. Good luck!

I agree with what @veeart says and I would add that (in my opinion), new users can spend sometime observing and engaging with posts that they are interested about. Then, it will be so much easier for them to decide what they wish to write about and how they can most of all have fun and get to know new people here! Hope this helps!
