    The museum of Tenzing Norgay

    Reblog

Tenzing Norgay was the first man who climbed Mount Everest along with a Britisher Edmund Hillary. While on the trek, there were several places where his statue was there , and his museum was also found in this place. On 29th May 1953, they successfully peaked the summit, clumbing up to 29000 feet. I can't even imagine what it must have been like. Just reaching 17500 feet was such an exhausting task, and here we are, talking about 10000 feet more upwards.

Before becoming successful, he had made several attempts and failed. In 1952, he had almost reached up to 28000 feet, but after that, he could not stand the weather and had to come down. otherwise, it would have cost him his life.

After becoming successful in his mission, he became world famous, and then he dedicated his life to developing the Sherpa community in the Kumbhu Everest region.

My guide told me this interesting story about Tenzing Norgay. It's that Indians claim that he is Indian and Nepalese claim that he is a Nepali. He lived on the borders and hence this dispute. Anyways, the fact is that he was a Sherpa from the Kumbhu valley, which is now very much in Nepal, so he is a Nepali.

This museum has more of a writings about his achievements. It's a very small place but gives a good idea to the visitors about his life.

This one is interesting. These 2 stones are brought one from the lowest point on Earth and one from the highest point on Earth. The lowest being the stone from the Dead Sea in Israel and the highest being the stone from Everest. 1000227355.jpg

Tenzing Norgay is a great motivator for people who want to climb Mt. Everest, and it's a good strategy for the tourism department of the country where Mt. Everest is located. Thank you for sharing ma'am. It's my first time to know the first person to climb Mt. Everest since I'm not good at history. 😊

It's 28000 feet my dear and the path is not straight up, it goes up and down. So if peaking it in total is almost 130 kms. The base camp is half distance of it which I did. To peak the Everest summit one needs years of training and also a very high level of physical fitness. It's not impossible but extremely challenging and then after the base camp to move up one also needs mountain climbing special skills with the tools, there is no clear path then
